On behalf of the German people!

The district court has Döbling by the District Judge Dr. Lutz as judges in the case of

Plaintiff: Hermione Hawlik, private, Vienna 18, Hofstattgasse 7,
against the
Defendant: Leo Castle, businessman, Vienna 18, Hofstattgasse 7

recognized because of termination to right:

The hg. Termination K 1464/38 is declared valid and the defendant is guilty, Hofstattgasse 7 rented apartment no. 9 to pass vacated (1938) the plaintiff in a forced sequel to the November date, the 18th in the house of Vienna. A cost statement omitted.

Reasons:

Pointing out that the defendant Jew (non-Aryans) was, took place the subject termination, were against which objections are raised as meaning that the apartment is subject to the rent law, defendant would have had no decency or, and cohabitation had been spoiled anyone. Incidentally defendant can not obtain another apartment.

The applicant pointed to the dependence of renting this apartment of the settlement of this dispute, while defendant admitted to be a Jew to have currently involved in the emigration in general, which, however, preclude formalities unknown duration.

The court reached due to the following considerations Stattgebung of termination. The reasons for termination of the rent law are not exhaustive. According to § 19, para. 1, MG. the lease may be terminated for good cause. In this context, the comment Swoboda leads out to these laws point that the recognition of a special reason for termination is easier if the question could be answered in the affirmative, that the admissibility of termination is also located in the public interest (p 208).
This is the case for several reasons. First, the urgent housing needs of housing for fellow is known to the court; the law is not for its own sake, but to secure the national community, required for their protection necessities of the people that are at the center of legal services. At the top of such a value system to the individual and the people whose life needs, in particular objective of housing needs and its satisfaction, which is a key requirement of the present and future prosperity of the people. suffer Insolange fellow with big housing shortage and By this means the livelihood of the people are significantly affected, the notice must as in this case be accorded an important public interest for this reason alone (control and recharge German family life).

However, that fact is an important reason within the meaning of § 19.1 MG. matter was therefore to decide as above.
Since costs have not been recorded, accounted for a remark about it.

Last Thursday was in Vienna, the second volume of the monumental work of the historian Georg Gaugusch "Who once was. The Jewish haute bourgeoisie of Vienna 1800-1938, LR "presented (see ORF Post to).
Advance by the Austrian Jewish Museum the complete name index (At least 34,000 names!) Including the registration of all associated with the names of places (20,000) online.

Of course, especially relations with the Burgenland Judaism for us of particular interest were. In fact, the research by Georg Gaugusch offer the intriguing possibility the history of Jews in Burgenland and continue in Eisenstadt and extrapolate. Because finally the names of the Jewish cemeteries of Burgenland buried regain their stories.
We are really excited that the author will give a lecture in our museum on the basis of individual family portraits about the networking and global importance of Burgenland Jews.

Reitlinger-Mausoleum, Montparnasse, Paris

Reitlinger-Mausoleum, Montparnasse, Paris

Million tourists visit Paris every year, and among them not a few of the famous Montparnasse cemetery. Strolling through this, you inevitably come across two of the largest mausoleums in the French capital - those of family ReitlingerWhose members encountered on the old Jewish cemetery in Eisenstadt. One of the most influential personalities of emerging Hungary was also originally from Eisenstadt Bernhard Rust - without him and his family many buildings in the Hungarian capital would probably never have come. The descendants of Eisenstadt family Pollak also appear in the most unexpected places: So Alice Strauss was the only heir to the Viennese waltz king Johann Strauss, as descendant of this dynasty Eisenstadt as large parts of Berlin and Munich Jewish upper class. Most testers representative was D. H. (David Heinrich) PollakWho founded the footwear industry in Austria and whose name as a brand is still present (Humanic).

Or who, in Kuner mayonnaise to the Jewish Eisenstadt? Anyone who thinks the Loos House in Reichenau to the Jewish Eisenstadt? the Eisenstädterin Julia Rosenfeld was married to the founder of the Khunerwerke Emanuel Khuner and had 13 children. The Mattersburger Rabbi Ehrenfeld oversaw the kosher production. And Emanuel Khuner was also the owner of the house Loos ...

But not only Eisenstadt, but also the other Jewish communities in Burgenland have produced personalities of international life. Around 1800, was a native of Vienna Kittsee wholesalers Isaac Figdor by far the biggest wool exporter to England. His grandson Albert created in Vienna an impressive collection of art and crafts - it was auctioned after his death in 1927 and scattered to the winds. The closely linked to Lackenbach family Schey Built in one of Vienna's Ringstrasse palaces, the descendants now live scattered across the globe. For the second time seven interested parties from Salzburg, Carinthia and Bavaria came to Eisenstadt to advanced Hebrew course. Just as last year we wanted to this year left the usual "classroom" and learned in practice, locally, apply and deepen. That this is not "just" about grammar, vocabulary and syntax went, must be specially mentioned. ;-)

Frauenkirchen

On the very first day we went for a short visit to the older Jewish cemetery in Eisenstadt in the former Jewish community Frauenkirchen. Mr. Franz Wegleitner, a former teacher who gets involved for many years in numerous projects around the history of the Jewish woman Kirchen and deserves, took a lot of time to tell us fascinating stories about individual graves of not destroyed in the Holocaust Jewish cemetery. After the cemetery we visited with him yet the "Garden of Remembrance"The site is officially opened on May 29, the former synagogue.

In the afternoon we drove to the former northerly of the "seven sacred Jewish communities" in esterházyschem land, Kittsee after. Headmistress Irmgard Jurkovich already waiting for us on the lying in the shadow of the castle Kittsee Jewish cemetery with its 230 graves. Mrs. Jurkovich already dealt in her time as head of the local elementary school, for decades intensively with the Jewish history of Kittsee, their vast knowledge and commitment all impressed us in the highest degree.

Vienna Central Cemetery

On Friday we left the Burgenland and made our way to Vienna. The Jewish departments at the Central Cemetery Gate IV and Gate I one day had an ambitious project. One of the best known and best Genealoginnen, Traude Triebel, explained the significance of grave inscriptions, especially of Hebrew, for genealogical work. After visiting the tomb Paul Rosenfeld of woman churches and the "homeless" (sic!) Exhumed graves of Döbling on port IV we changed in the afternoon in the Jewish section of Gate I, according to its own statement that a kind of second home by Traude Triebel ;-) that also was able to visit her own family here same. On both doors about 150,000 people are buried.
Needless to say that the magnificent mausoleums formed on gate 1, almost a kind of a contrast to the orthodox Burgenland tombs of the previous day:

Markus Engel, a son of Trade's Bonyhad Aron angel came in 1860 to Vienna and established here along with Wilhelm Weiss under the name M. Engel & Weiss an export house. For this the bank and exchange house Marcus Engel grew in Vienna I, Schottenring 32, came to great wealth by Markus Engel. His monumental mausoleum in the Central Cemetery in Vienna is one of the largest grave monuments in this cemetery (see below pictures 3rd row).

Gaugusch George, who once was. The Jewish haute bourgeoisie of Vienna 1800-1938, AK, Vienna 2011 534th

Particularly fascinating are the Sephardic section was at Gate 1. In the Vienna of the 19th century there was a significant Sephardic community. The earliest names are known: Camondo Nissim, Eskenasy, Amar De Mayo, etc. Interestingly, we find gerademal 10,000 people in the birth and Heiratsmatriken from 1845 to 1938.
For us, we eventually make these tours as part of a Hebrew course for advanced students, was also interesting that we obviously in Vienna only to the Sephardic graves as introductory text of the Hebrew grave inscriptions Of Check Find. I've seen that so far only at the Jewish cemetery in Trieste. In Germany, a little more than 50 documents found for it, and this with a few exceptions, all in the Jewish cemetery Hamburg-Altona. However, there never advertised as an abbreviation, but always: Gravestone.
